Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 15, 2026
Free VPN ("we," "us," or "our") provides a virtual private network service through mobile and desktop applications. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Device and account identifiers
When you first open the app, a random device identifier is generated and stored locally on your device. This identifier is sent to our backend to register an anonymous user account. We do not require your name, email address, or phone number to use Free VPN.
Connection and usage data
To provide the VPN service, we process information related to your connections, including:
- Selected server location
- WireGuard configuration details needed to establish a tunnel
- Data transfer volume (bytes sent and received)
- Connection timestamps
Speed and data statistics displayed in the app are measured locally during an active session.
Locally stored preferences
The app stores certain preferences on your device using local storage, including your user identifier, recently used servers, and active connection state. This data remains on your device unless you uninstall the app or clear app data.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the VPN service
- Assign and release WireGuard configurations for your connections
- Display server lists and connection statistics in the app
- Improve reliability and troubleshoot technical issues
VPN Traffic
When you connect to a VPN server, your internet traffic is encrypted between your device and the server using the WireGuard protocol. We do not design Free VPN to log the contents of your browsing activity. However, network traffic passes through infrastructure operated by us or our hosting providers in order to deliver the service.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with service providers who help us operate the backend infrastructure (for example, hosting and server management), subject to contractual obligations to protect that data.
We may also disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
Data Retention
Anonymous user records and connection metadata are retained only as long as necessary to operate the service. WireGuard configurations are released when you disconnect. Local app data persists on your device until you remove it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest, including WireGuard encryption for VPN tunnels. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices
- You can stop using the service at any time by disconnecting and uninstalling the app.
- Clearing app data on your device removes locally stored identifiers and preferences.
Children's Privacy
Free VPN is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
